Watch: What’s Actually on Your Kids’ Clothes?
Parents go to remarkable lengths to keep their children safe. Making the baby food at home in the kitchen. Reading every ingredient panel in the grocery aisle. That care is real and it is constant.
So it is worth asking the same question about the clothing: what is actually printed on it?
Plenty of companies are still using toxic materials to decorate apparel. Check the label. Is there a warning on it? And buy from a brand that can stand behind its safety — not one that simply asserts it.
Two questions worth asking any brand:
“Do you have a GCC?” (A General Certificate of Conformity.)
“Can you confirm this is CPSIA Prop 65 compliant?”
A brand that has done the work answers both without hesitating.
And this is not only about children's apparel. Think about how often you carry a toddler on your hip — they are pressed against the graphic on your shirt as much as you are, often more. The decoration on adult clothing reaches children too.
Everything matters. Ask what is on the apparel your children — and you — are wearing.
